Percussionista oriunda de uma aldeia do Mercantour nos Alpes Marítimos, Camille Emaille fez os seus estudos clássicos nos conservatórios de Nice e Estrasburgo antes de ingressar na Musik Akademie de Basileia para aperfeiçoar as suas competências em música contemporânea e improvisação com Christian Dierstein e Fred Frith. Depois de um período no Mills College em Oakland, onde trabalhou com Roscoe Mitchell e William Winant, interrompeu os seus estudos para se dedicar inteiramente a todos os seus projectos fora da escola. Atualmente, a sua prática baseia-se numa relação física com o som, tanto no material e volume dos instrumentos com que trabalha, como no trabalho com o barro, como na energia física despendida ao tocar. Seja através da improvisação, da música escrita ou pré-estruturada, Camille procura essa linha onde a energia, a concentração e a escuta são ativadas a um nível tal que a consciência de si próprio, em relação ao resto do mundo, acaba por desaparecer.

Atualmente, apresenta-se principalmente como solista, em trio com GÉSIR, grupo composto por Jean-Luc Guionnet no órgão e Julien Desailly na gaita de foles, com OTTO composto por Gabriel Valtchev e Pol Small onde os três tocam o Tapan (percussão búlgara), com o duo OXKE-FIXU com o clarinetista Xavière Fertin com quem criou um gongo accousmonium que difunde e transforma os sons do clarinete e da percussão, num outro duo com a guitarrista Nina Garcia, como parte do grande grupo de improvisação “Le Un”, o quarteto ESCARGOT com Tom Malmendier na bateria, Louis Frères no baixo e Xavière Fertin no clarinete, e num trio com Hans Koch (clarinetes) e Dieb13.

A percussionist from a village in the Mercantour in the Alpes Maritimes, Camille Emaille did her classical studies at the conservatoires of Nice and Strasbourg before joining the Musik Akademie in Basel to perfect her skills in contemporary music and improvisation with Christian Dierstein and Fred Frith. After a spell at Mills College in Oakland, where she worked with Roscoe Mitchell and William Winant, she interrupted her studies to devote herself fully to all her projects outside the school. Her practice today is based on a physical relationship with sound, as much in the material and volume of the instruments she works with as in working with clay, as in the physical energy expended in playing. Whether through improvisation, written or pre-structured music she seeks that line where energy, concentration and listening are activated to such a level that awareness of oneself, in relation to the rest of the world, finally disappears.

She currently tours mainly as a soloist, in a trio with GÉSIR, a group made up of Jean-Luc Guionnet on organ and Julien Desailly on bagpipes, with OTTO made up of Gabriel Valtchev and Pol Small where all three play the Tapan (Bulgarian percussion), with the duo OXKE-FIXU with clarinettist Xavière Fertin with whom she has created a gong accousmonium that diffuses and transforms the sounds of the clarinet and percussion, in another duo with guitarist Nina Garcia, as part of the large improvisation ensemble 'Le Un', the ESCARGOT quartet with Tom Malmendier on drums, Louis Frères on bass and Xavière Fertin on clarinet, and in a trio with Hans Koch (clarinets) and Dieb13 (turntables).
